Daria Koso: Nova perspektiva

Kako biste opisali svoj stil fotografije?

Daria, you are one of the most popular photographers in Miami, tell us how your career started?

I started my career in photography in my teenage years, simply capturing the world around me. However, it was until I shot my first runway show thanks to which I discovered my passion for fashion photography. From there, I began working with designers, models, and brands in the fashion industry. Miami is a great place for my photography career, and I feel grateful to be able to continue pursuing my passion here.

How would you describe your unique shooting style?

As a fashion photographer, my own style is an integral part of my brand and my approach to photography. I have a feminine, sensual and elegant aesthetics, and I enjoy playing with light and shadow to create mood and atmosphere in my images. I believe that fashion photography should capture beauty and emotions, and I work to create interesting and meaningful images at the same time. My editing is polished, but I aim to keep my images looking natural and alive. I strive to tell a viewer a story or convey a feeling through my images, which are both beautiful and timeless.

You often shoot for top glossy covers, which of your projects do you consider the most unusual?

As a fashion photographer, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting and unique projects for high-end magazines. One of the most challenging and memorable projects I have worked on was for a cover story, where we shot an editorial at the beach with a real parachute. I wanted the parachute to fly and stay in the sky, so we spent an entire day on the set. Despite the challenges, the final images were stunning and we were able to create a truly unique experience for the magazine. I always try to bring a creative touch to each project I work on, and it’s a constant challenge that I enjoy and find rewarding.

What do you like most to shoot as a photographer, what kind of projects?

My favorite type of projects are those that are both challenging and unique. I love the opportunity to learn something new and push my creative boundaries while capturing images. Whether it’s a fashion photoshoot, a personal project, or something outside the box, I’m always looking for ways to bring my own style and vision to each and every project.

You often fly, can you share the most interesting ones for shooting for the most sophisticated models?

As a fashion photographer, I have the opportunity to travel a lot and I always find it to be an exciting and enriching experience. Each trip brings new challenges and opportunities for creative growth. One of the most interesting experiences I’ve had was when I was just back from a trip to New York and was asked by a model to join them on a private jet for a few days of shooting in Aspen. It was a great experience, and the result was a stunning cover story for a magazine.

Tell us about your shooting for Harpers BAZAAR Serbia?

Working on the photo shoot for Harper’s BAZAAR was a dream that came true for me as a fashion photographer. The team I worked with is amazing, and we shot the project in my hometown where I was born (Minsk, Belarus). I always love experimenting and being creative, and this shoot was no exception. I often come up with ideas on set, when I can see the complete look of the model and how they’re posing, expressing themselves, etc. Everything just comes together in the moment. If you’re interested, you can check out behind the scenes video from this shoot on my YouTube channel called Daria Koso.

What is the main difference between the US and Europe in shooting style for you?

In Europe, there is more emphasis on artistic expression and cultural influences, whereas in the USA, there is a tendency to focus on commercial appeal and a polished look. However, both regions have a rich history and diverse styles of photography, and it’s fascinating to see how they continue to evolve and influence each other.

Tell me about a typical photographer’s routine.

As a photographer, my day is usually filled with multiple responsibilities. I start my day by checking my emails and messages with my assistant to see what needs my attention. Then, I work on my marketing strategy and prepare content for my social media platforms for the day. If I don’t have a photoshoot scheduled for the day, I spend my time editing previous photoshoots and planning out new projects. This could include creating workshops, writing articles or making videos for my YouTube channel. My typical day is always busy, but I love the variety it brings.

Do you shoot collections of fashion brands?

Yes, I definitely shoot lookbooks and advertising campaigns for brands. It’s a great opportunity to showcase the style and vision of the brand and to create eye-catching and impressive images that help to sell the product. That’s always my goal and I enjoy working on these projects very much.
