Jade Rasif: Once you learn something, no one can take it away from you

Our contributor in Paris acquainted with a famous fashion content creator Jade Rasif during fashion week. Special for Harper’s BAZAAR Serbia, Jade shared her fashion experience, evolution of style and plans for the future.

What does fashion mean for you?

I grew up in a very conservative bubble and now that I’m an adult, I love to push boundaries and challenge stereotypes through fashion. It feels like I’m continuing a legacy, fashion through the times has always been used to push forth revolutions and I love that through my voice I am able to support other women who feel the same way I do. I also love that there’s so much history and art behind the clothes we put on every single day.

Your looks are always stunning. How would you describe your personal style?

Nothing is more beautiful than the feminine figure. I love my body & flattering it with exaggerated shoulders, tight waists, and enhanced hips is my favourite thing to do. With the hopes that what I show will inspire another woman to love her body a little bit more.

What are your favourite fashion brands and why?

I love working with local designers on some of my custom fashion week looks. The designer I am wearing today is Vidushi Jain, who handmade some of my looks today out of Gaji Silk from her hometown in India. She is brilliant. Working with designers like her who have interwoven some part of her culture into her creative vision is inspiring.

Who is your fashion icon? And why?

Thierry Mugler – the structure in his clothes is unbeatable. It’s feminine yet dramatic. It’s vintage yet remains fresh years after his passing. The fact that he was breaking stereotypes for the Haute Couture world in the 70s only adds to his appeal.

Like a blogger do you feel responsible and possibly pressured when choosing content to publish? Or, on the contrary, do you just follow your intuition and mood, sharing your world and worldview?

I follow my intuition and try to be as authentic as I can be! I faced a lot of criticism when I first started acting in my first TV drama in 2016, but being authentic has helped me carve out a small audience that really supports me, and I am so grateful for it. Also, the current audience values ‘realness’ above all and I’m happy to be able to share a portion of my life with them.

Can you tell your personal secret of high productivity and success?

The best advice I have been given is that “once you learn something, no one can take it away from you”. My priority is always learning first, but balancing it by not taking mistakes too harshly.

Share your plans for the future.

I have a trip to Doha and Qatar upcoming! As well as South Africa & Indonesia after. I can’t wait to learn about all these different countries, exploring their unique culture. Cross cultural exchanges is definitely a perk of the job that I love.
