Na nedavno otvorenoj izložbi, Reef Reverie u Njujorku, Mona Jewelry, njujorški brend nakita, prikazao je seriju umetničkih radova u koje su bile inkorporirane kolekcije nakita: Sand and Foam (Pesak i pena), Basket of Life (Kolevka života) i The Waves (Talasi).

Mona Jewelry Hosted an Exhibition in New York City Celebrating the Beauty of Ocean Life

At lately opened exhibition Reef Reverie in New York City, Mona Jewelry, the New York-based Jewelry brand, showcased a body of poetic jewelry works. Collections Sand and Foam, Basket of Life, and The Waves were incorporated into the exhibition.

Made by Pearl, Metals, and hand-selected and carved Clear Quartz, the new collection Sand and Foam inspired by Kahlil Gibran’s poem, philosophy, and wisdom and claimed the stone-setting techniques that match the natural stone with the curve of the metal to make the connection between materials imperceptible. The new fine jewelry collection Basket of Life specifically drew inspiration from glass sponges, articulated with modernistic style and mathematical precision in homage to the life cycle of marine creatures. As Mona Jewelry’s most recognized collection, The Waves came from the designer’s fascination with wondrous creations of nature.

– We wanted to trace the history of our brand while looking ahead to celebrate the new series, says Mona (Jing) Liu, Founder of the namesake jewelry label.

After working in Paris, she brought Mona Jewelry to life in New York City.

– The exhibition is an immersive experience where visitors are invited to appreciate the art of possessing and wearing jewelry that evokes feelings of oneness with nature, the pursuit of timeless transcendence, and an appreciation for elegance in the everyday.

Located in midtown Manhattan, New York, the exhibition took place in TheBLANC Gallery. Mona Jewelry efficiently utilized the space to display collections of jewelry in a way that is engaging and experiencing for the visitor, reflecting the brand’s heritage of ocean aesthetics and nature-related creations.

New York-based Sculptor Xiong Wei’s artwork Tamed Head and Giant Hands made with a piece of driftwood found on Staten Island, as well as burlap, plaster, nails, and iron wire was incorporated into the layout of the exhibition as a center piece to display the jewelry works, adding a unique touch to the exhibition.

Mona Jewelry also used a wall to display its Spring/Summer 2023 campaign and a series of frame artworks made with delicate jewelry and the oceanic creature remains.

– We kept asking ourselves what could be deemed essential and held unchanged in the ephemerality of life. The dynamic parallel of the oceanic lives and their remains finally raised the answers, says Mona.

The exhibition committed to donating to Coral Guardianan, an NGO dedicated to protecting the coral ecosystem, and has begun the process of adopting a coral to support the restoration program on the Indonesian island of Hatamin.
